A701 crash victim named

THE man who died in a car crash near Beattock on Monday afternoon has been named by police.

He was Michael Anderson, 51, of Blair Street in Dalbeattie – pictured.
Mr Anderson was an occupant in one of two cars involved in the collision near Craigielands House, Beattock.
Police Scotland say that he was confirmed dead at the scene.
The driver of the second car, a 33-year-old man from Glasgow, remains in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious leg and arm injuries.
Emergency services, including the Scottish Fire and Rescue crew from Moffat, attended following the accident, which happened after midday on Monday.
The road was closed to traffic and diversions were set up. It remained shut into the afternoon to allow accident investigation work to be carried out.
Anyone who witnessed the accident or who has any other information is asked to contact police on the non-emergency 101 telephone line.
The Procurator Fiscal has been informed.
