Amey will carry out the essential maintenance on behalf of Transport Scotland from Thursday January 27 to Thursday February 3.
The work will be carried out under a combination of overnight closures and a full weekend closure too from January 28-31.
And it means diversions will be needed, with westbound traffic going onto the B721 after Gretna, through Eastriggs towards the roundabout south-east of Annan and onto the B6357 Stapleton Road before re-joining the A75.
Traffic travelling eastbound will follow this diversion in reverse.
Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout these works.
An Amey spokesman said: “This scheme, with a value of £496,000, will benefit around 10,977 vehicles using this route each day, by improving the condition of the carriageway and reducing the need for more extensive maintenance in the future.
“Our operatives will follow strict physical distancing and hygiene protocols throughout the programme, in line with the Scottish Government’s Covid-19 guidance.”
The works are weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if conditions are not favourable.
