A77 works will last until summer

ESSENTIAL drainage improvements are due to start today on the A77 at Cairnryan, running until July.

Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, are replacing existing gullies, installing new gullies, and upgrading the existing carrier drains and outfalls.

There will also be some footway and carriageway resurfacing works.

The expected completion date is late July and temporary traffic lights will be in place on the route through Cairnryan.

A spokesperson said: “It should be noted this is the anticipated overall duration of the works, but it is not anticipated the works will be continuous during this period.

“These essential works are necessary to address surface water drainage issues affecting the carriageway.

“Unfortunately, some noise disturbance may occur. We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused.”

The works will be undertaken within the footway, verge, parking lay-bys as well as both the southbound and northbound lanes for the duration of the scheme. Access will be maintained at all times.
