Alderson takes back-to-back MVP awards against Steeldogs
MIXED RESULTS . . . the Solway Sharks faced the Sheffield Steeldogs home and away last weekend

SOLWAY Sharks forward Mason Alderson was named most valuable player two nights in a row as the Dumfries side lost one and won one against the Sheffield Steeldogs.

The Sharks returned to Dumfries on Saturday to face the Sheffield Steeldogs, but they fell agonisingly short to the visitors in a narrow 3-4 scoreline.

On Sunday the Sharks made the trek across to Sheffield following an evening of snowfall across the UK, to face the Steeldogs in a return leg. And the journey was made worthwhile following a 2-3 victory.

Alderson soon claimed the opener at 14:28.

The league’s top goal scorer, Sommer added to his tally at 27:45.

Solway then went back ahead possession through Nolan Gardiner with a strike from point, seeing Craig Peacock claim his first point since his return.

Less than a minute later, Callum Boyd fired from close range on a breakaway to extend Solway’s lead to two goals at 38:09.

However, the Steeldogs quickly answered back to reduce the deficit via Sam Cooper.
