The 30-year-old midfielder, right, signed back at Galabank in May upon leaving Queen of the South, where he had been full-time for the last three seasons.

Eight years previously, the former Carlisle youth prospect had departed the Black and Golds with aspirations of playing at a higher level.

At first he signed amateur terms with then Championship side Dumbarton before going on to play professionally at a host of clubs.

THROWBACK . . . Josh Todd looks for a way round Queen of the South centre back Mark Durnan

Todd said: “I was at Queens for the last couple of years and I’d always thought about going part time as I was getting a bit older.

“I heard Wullie got the job, I know him and he knows me. It was whether we could get something done, and we did.”

He added: “It’s good to be back. I’ve got fond memories here. It’s two days a week now and it’s sort of a release.

“I’m working with Pete Watson, he’s kindly given me a job and I’d like to thank him very much. I’m working with him in the office at his plumbing business.

“People say it can be tough (balancing football and work) but it all depends on how you look at it. You get to play with your mates essentially.”

So far so good, Annan have started very well with 3-1 and 1-0 wins against Cove and Inverness.

Todd said: “Up at Cove I thought we played very well and we got two late goals. Today (against Inverness) we got a goal and then just ground it out.

“We need to make this a fortress like we did today. We’ve got a good team of good solid workers and we’re all committed so long may it continue.”

This Saturday it is a return to Palmerston for Todd who believes all the pressure is on his former side.

He added: “The games against Annan last year were brilliant.

“It’s a derby like any other, you’ve got to roll the sleeves up and who cares how you play as long as you get the win.

“There’s players on both sides that have swapped over the years, so there’s plenty to play for.

“The pressure’s always on Queens. They’re the bigger club, they’ve got the bigger fanbase, the bigger budget and stuff like that.

“We’ve got to go, put a performance together and try and take three points off them.
