All set for Hairy Haggis challenge

A GROUP of Annan friends are preparing for a capital charity challenge this weekend.

They are taking part in the EMF Hairy Haggis Team Relay event in Edinburgh, which is part of the Edinburgh Marathon Festival.
The girls, who are enthusiastic about keeping fit, are raising money for their chosen charity Prostate Cancer UK.
They have already raised almost £550 in sponsorship for the charity with a further £285, the proceeds of a bucket collection at Annan Athletic FC.
The team are Wendy Hamilton, 45, Mary Hamilton, 54, Susan Bryson, 40, and Kerry-Anne Hawkins, 46.
They are encouraging people to make donations at their JustGiving page at www.justgiving.com/WendyHamilton7
Said Wendy: “We have fund-raised for various causes in the past and for this event we decided to raise funds and awareness for prostrate cancer causes after a family member was diagnosed.”
The girls will all complete a different section of the 26.2 miles course.
They have been encouraged by their ‘chief coach’ Norman Hawkins, who has been providing support in his distinctive red tartan-clad Volkswagen caravanette.
