And boss Peter Murphy was very pleased with the win that catapults Athletic into the final play-off spot in League Two.
He said: “The first ten minutes we were camped in their half.
“I think our players probably got lured into a false sense of security.
“He (Charlie Reilly) could have had a hat-trick in the first half, he hit the post.
“Scott Hooper makes an unbelievable block. From my point of view, I had to stem that flow in the second half and we changed the shape slightly because I thought there was a lot of space for us in the wide areas.
“It worked. We put Roan Steele on who is an out and out one-versus-one defender and he stopped Reilly.
“We should have scored six. It makes a little bit of a statement getting into the top four at the moment.
Murphy, 42, is in his sixth term at the helm at Galabank and his loyalty lies with the League Two club in light of recent reports linking him with the vacant managers job at Queens.
He said: “I’m manager here at this moment in time. I was gutted to see Wullie lose his job because I know him personally.
“It’s a good club, but I’m at a very good club now who’ve been excellent with me.
“Earlier on, about four or five weeks ago, we went through a bit of a bad run and it could have been easy for a club to make a decision to do something then. “They’ve stuck by me and the players, we’ve now got wins and we’re up into fourth position.
“My loyalty is to this club at this moment in time.”
