ANNAN The History Town (ATHT) will be hosting their FUNDay next month and all are invited to attend the festivities.
Taking place in the Corner House Hotel function suite on Sunday August 6, the event will run from 12 noon to 4 pm.
It is the result of a number of local charities banding together to raise awareness for their causes and to bring in more volunteers and supporters while creating deeper links with other charities.
ATHT festival director Graeme MacGregor said: “We are looking to create an event in Annan to bring as many local organisations, clubs, charities and more together to show local people what a vibrant community we have.
“We will be promoting the event as part of our Summer Festival, encouraging people to come along, have fun and, at the same time, find out more about your activities.
“We want to spark interest within the community, as organisations are concerned about lack of volunteers. Some have many older volunteers but lack the youth, while some have young volunteers but lack adults.
“Through this event, we hope to get more people involved and create a network of local charities that can support not only the community, but each other.”
There are 21 groups set to attend, ranging from smaller local charities to larger regional groups. These organisations include Annan Brownies, A Tale of Two Bridges, Annan Eco Warriors, Kate’s Kitchen, the Boy’s Brigade, DG Heritage Service and Vision Impaired People.
Here are some statements from each group in preparation for the festivities:
