The town featured in the project for the first time last year, with the opportunity to take part in a celebration which helps promote communities to the wider region.
Hailing Annan being chosen as one of five communities in 2016, chairwoman of The Royal Burgh of Annan Community Council Joyce Wylie said: “I think it’s a brilliant idea to bring people to the town.
“We’re desperately needing tourism — people to come and spend their money here.”
Mrs Wylie added: “The harbour, Jubilee Gardens, the river walk, the football club, the cycling club, the tennis club — there’s so many things in Annan that people would be interested in coming to see.”
Day of the Region is now in its sixth year, and is set to take place in September.
It is billed as an opportunity for community organisations and individuals with an interest or skill to promote what is available, to attract new members and encourage more people to get involved and be more aware of activities taking place in communities.
Annan will feature again this year, joined by Glentrool, Kirkconnel and Kelloholm, Lochmaben and Sanquhar.
Launching this year’s event, Dumfries and Galloway LEADER Team promise over 150 free events and activities delivered across the five communities throughout September.
From cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, sports and fitness to pony rides, emergency service displays, football, music and BBQs, local working groups are ensuring there will be something for everyone.
And anyone involved in a community group, local organisation, business who has an interest or hobby they would like to promote is asked to get in touch as soon as possible.
Specific dates are yet to be confirmed, but events will be taking place on the weekends during September, with updated information set to be made available on the website www.dayoftheregion.co.uk
