Annan set to defend Raydale Cup

ANNAN Athletic will set out tomorrow to defend the Raydale Cup in the annual competition hosted by Gretna 2008.

Along with Annan and the host club, Carlisle City and SPFL Division One side Ayr United will take part in a weekend of action.
The first game at midday tomorrow is between Gretna and Carlisle City with Annan facing a tough tie against the Honest Men at 3.30 pm.
Sunday will see the 12 noon fixture decide third and fourth place with the final at 3.30 pm.
Last year Annan won after a penalty shootout against Workington Reds.
Annan manager Jim Chapman said: “We’re all looking forward to the tournament and we had a good run-out on Sunday against Whitley Bay.”
Meanwhile, Gretna will be strengthened by the return of Andrew Trestianu and Greig Goodwin who have returned to join Stuart Rome’s Lowland League side.
Trestianu made his debut in Gretna 2008’s first season and featured for the hoops for three seasons before joining Aspatria.
Goodwin made 26 appearances for Gretna in season 2012-2013 before joining Threave Rovers at the start of the 2013 season.
