The Heart and Soul Disco is the brainchild of Audrey Graham – looking to give something back to the heart and lung services of the Golden Jubilee Hospital in Glasgow.
Introducing the music set to be played on the night by DJs from Carlisle, Audrey said: “It’s a bit of everything.
“The guys have said that they’ll read the audience and know what sort of music to play. I go to a lot of Northern Soul events, but we’re all Motown, so people are going to love this.”
Explaining the title of the event, taking place at The Corner House Hotel on Saturday April 23, Audrey added: “I thought ‘Heart and Soul’, because I was the one who had this heart operation.”
Audrey says she received great treatment at the Golden Jubilee Hospital, and is keen to generate some valued funding.
She said: “It is a good charity, and they do such a lot of marvellous things up there.
“A lot of people in Dumfries and Galloway go up there now.”
The mixture of Northern Soul and Motown will be delivered by DJs who had been delivering a regular soul night at the Ukrainian Club in Carlisle.
But with that regular event now brought to an end, Audrey said: “Wouldn’t it be good if something like this came to Annan?”
Audrey is grateful to generous business which have donated prizes for a raffle at next Saturday’s event.
Believing music and dancing has health benefits itself, Audrey said: “We all grew up with it in the family, and we all loved dancing, and it is good for your heart.”
Pledging non-stop fun at the event, she added: “The music won’t stop.”
