ANNAN Riding of the Marches build-up got underway on Wednesday night with the first ride-out of the season. The cavalcade of around 50 horses and riders followed a route to Battlefield and paused for refreshments at Carrs Agriculture's new edge of town premises.

‘IF’ is the title of this poem, written to mark the end of WWI munitions work at Mossband in Gretna in 1919. The only clue to the author are the initials DME, but it’s dedicated to the ‘girls of the cordite laboratory, Mossband. It goes:
