GRETNA FC 2008 moved into eighth spot in the Lowland League following a 1-0 win away to Broomhill on Saturday.
Sam Atkinson’s spot kick in the seventh minute was enough to seal all three points for the visitors.
And Gretna showed great character to see out victory after playing the last half an hour with ten man after Dean Brotherston was shown a red card.
Anvils manager Vinnie Parker said: “It’s been an outstanding performance and a well deserved three points.
“I thought it was important to start the year really positive. We’ve got a lot of big games coming up.
“We want to get as far away from the bottom of the table as possible. And now it’s all about keeping in the top ten.”
