Art effort for Ukraine

AN artist from Annandale and Eskdale has put her creative skills to good use to raise money for Ukraine.

Claire Warbeck, of Canonbie, has painted a watercolour portrait, titled A Prayer for Ukraine, in the country’s colours of blue and yellow.

She is selling prints of it locally in Lockerbie, Annan and Dumfries, as well as further afield in Brampton. Claire explained the project came about after she watched the news and was touched with sadness at the suffering in the war torn country and wanted to help and try and raise money.

She has been delighted at the response locally so far and she said: “The list of shops are growing now who will be displaying them, there has been a great response. Solway Print in Dumfries kindly printed off all copies free of charge to help the appeal and The Range in Dumfries are supplying mounts.

I am so grateful to both companies for their help.

“All proceeds from these sales will go to the Ukraine appeal.”
