It is designed as a follow on from the HNC and HND courses in creative industries that the college offers and will be specific and tailored to the region. From 2020, it will allow students who have already achieved their HNC/HND in art and design, photography or visual communication to continue on to degree level and complete their studies in Dumfries.
College principal Carol Turnbull, pictured above right, said: “We hope this will be the start of many years of collaboration between the two educational institutions and that many students will benefit. Our region can only benefit from this collaboration, but we hope that our new partners will also benefit from the rural landscape and our creative output that can work hand in hand with their own famous reputation for world class art and design.”
Professor Ken Neil, of the Glasgow School of Art, added: “We are working with the college on a variety of exciting opportunities for staff and students in Dumfries and Galloway.”
