A 22-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man were attacked while walking in St Michael’s Street at about 2 am.
They were approached by three young men, all aged late teens to early 20s, who engaged them in conversation and, out of nowhere, one of the males assaulted the man causing him to sustain minor injuries.
The woman questioned the male as to the reason he assaulted her friend and then one of the other males assaulted the woman, before all three ran off.
The woman sustained minor injuries as a result.
Police are investigating and have issued a description of the trio:
* The first was six foot tall with dark hair and was wearing a black top and denim shorts.
* The second was five foot nine tall with dirty blonde hair and wearing a grey top and denim jeans.
* The third was six foot tall, also with dirty blonde hair and wearing a red top and denim shorts.
