Auction stations for hit TV show

A TV crew has captured all the auction action in Dumfries for an episode of a popular TV Show.

Hit BBC series The Travelling Auctioneers filmed at Thomson Roddick Callan Dumfries last year.

And the programme is expected to be shown on BBC One later this year.

On filming day, a range of treasures and toys went under the hammer, including iconic Hornby 00 gauge collections; fine jewellery and Royal Doulton figures.

A particular highlight was the bidding for a 1964 autographed “Love from The Beatles” piece, signed by each member of the legendary band in blue ballpoint pen.

There was also a selection of restored antiques, brought back to life by the show’s expert restorer, JJ Chalmers, and including a Fruitwood spinning wheel in the 17th-century style from Sherborne Castle, a Victorian pine farmhouse table, and a rare WWII fire patrol helmet.

Thomson Roddick Callan was delighted to welcome in the TV team, which is fronted by presenters and restoration maestros JJ Chalmers and Robin Johnson, along with auctioneering expert Izzie Balmer.

It’s narrated by Christina Trevanion and also features auctioneers James “JB” Broad and Briony “Bee” Harford, as well as restorers Lauren Wood and Saf Fäkir.
