August date for Crichton sites

A POPULAR cafe and pool in Dumfries may finally reopen early next month.

Easterbrook Bistro and the pool are currently closed due to staffing issues and social distancing concerns respectively.

But the Crichton Trust has announced that the situation will be reviewed around August 2.

When they do reopen, it will be seven days a week from 8 am to 8 pm for swimming and snacks, and the main menu from 11 am to 6 pm.

The Crichton Central cafe is currently open everyday between 10 am and 4 pm, but it is hoped that this can be extended from next month.

Meanwhile, the Easterbrook Hall is only open for a limited number of carefully managed meetings and events.

A statement read: “Easterbrook Hall is a large space which is great for social distancing, but due to the significant drop in demand for indoor events and the requirement for greater ventilation, we are carrying out a risk assessment for every event to assess whether it can go ahead or if any changes are required to allow it to go ahead.

“Unfortunately, we are still experiencing cancellations and we are supporting our clients as best as we can in these circumstances.

“It is our intention to upgrade our tech and ventilation within the main hall at some point soon and of course, we look forward to the gradual return of indoor events when it is safe to do so.”
