AN Annan family business was a winner at the 2022 Scottish Asian Business Awards last week.
Atwal Stores, in Newington, were named Convenience Retailer of the Year.
Brothers Hardip and Omrik Atwal, pictured, attended the glittering event in Glasgow last Monday night and were shocked and delighted to be a winner.
Hardip said: “It was great, what a lovely surprise in time for Christmas.
“Thanks to everyone involved and to whoever nominated us.”
A spokesperson for the awards said: “We would like to congratulate all winners and finalists.
“We commend the entrepreneurial spirit, dedication, personal and professional achievements and the huge contributions Scottish Asians have achieved in their respective industries.”
The prize comes as the Atwal family revealed they have leased out the shop after 34 years.
They will be helping the new management settle in and will still be working in the store for the time being, as well as running the post office, but are looking forward to a well earned break after doing seven days a week for over three decades.
The new leaseholder is Vijey Srisvatheepan.
