STAFF and residents at Allanbank Care Home in Dumfries are celebrating after the home was shortlisted as a finalist for two national care awards.

STAFF and residents at Allanbank Care Home in Dumfries are celebrating after the home was shortlisted as a finalist for two national care awards.

The home has is in the running for the Nutrition and Eating Well accolade in the Scottish Care’s Care Home Awards, but is also a finalist for the Catering Team of the Year title in the Caring UK Awards.

The not-for-profit care home was nominated for its home-cooked meals prepared by chef manager, Sharon Marshall, and assistant chef, Leah Livingstone. Together with the team they meals for the residents where food is not just about nutrition, it is also a source of joy, celebration and connection.

Home Manager, Sandra McNay is delighted that the staff are being recognised for their efforts, she said: “We are so proud to have been named finalists for these two incredible awards. The team go beyond providing delicious, home-cooked meals. They are passionate about the residents at Allanbank having that sense of choice and enjoyment when it comes to food that they did before joining us here, enriching their lives through the mealtime experience.”

The team will find out if they have won at awards ceremonies in later this months and in December.
