For Moffat Alpacas have welcomed their first baby of the year, born this week.
The little white girl comes from an Appolloosa mum, Gilmour Bank Julissa, and will be called Moffat’s Betty Boo.
They are owned by Lynda Halley, who said: “At four days overdue, she was enjoying a different kind of lockdown! Their fleece is rarer than cashmere, eight times warmer than wool, fire retardant and hypo allergenic. They are very organic and sustainable animals, their poo is a wonderful fertiliser.”
Lynda has a small breeding herd of alpacas and says she is breeding for ‘kind temperament and fleece quality’, adding: “There are another two babies due soon hopefully.”
