WHEN Dumfries rockers The Lutras step on stage at the Loreburn Hall this August for their final ever gig, it will be a bittersweet moment.

If they manage to sell-out the 800-capacity venue in their home town they will set a record for their biggest ever headline show.

And they are on course to achieve the feat, with more than a quarter of the available tickets being snapped up in less than 24 hours.

However, the party will be tinged with sadness come the end of the night when the band depart the stage one last time.

The ‘One Last Dance’ gig follows the band’s announcement last week confirming they would be calling it a day after 12 years.

Since forming in 2013 they have experienced the thrills and spills of life as musicians.

They have toured the country and played at major festivals, and, there is little doubt, they did come close to the ‘big time’ just before the pandemic.

But they say covid’s impact on the industry cannot be underestimated and it’s become a struggle to get bookings and make everything viable.

Their social media post, announcing the end, was met with sadness, however, the group members did declare they would all be on the lookout for their next musical adventures.

Their music will live on, with their Loreburn Hall show offering the chance to bow out in style and thank everyone for the support over the years.

Production manager Adam Puech said: “It’s going to be one last great gig. It’s going to be the last opportunity to party with the band.

“There will be special guests throughout the evening and we have a great line-up of support beforehand.”

He added: “We have always put on a lot in Dumfries, and the town has been really supportive of the band from the outset.

“This show is to give a little bit back to everybody who has given support at gigs and has helped the band out in anyway.”

The Lutras ‘One Last Dance’ will take place on Saturday August 23 at the Loreburn Hall, Dumfries.

Dovv, Rosie Alice and Blanc will be the supporting acts, while some special guests will make appearances throughout the evening.
