PLANS have been revealed for a battery energy storage system (BESS) near Springfield.
The announcement came from Gresham House, a London-based asset management organisation.
With an approximate storage capacity of up to 456 MW, the BESS could secure the power supply for thousands of homes and support the transition to net zero in Gretna thanks to low-carbon infrastructure.
It would cover a 10.9 hectare site at Campingholm Farm, near the Gretna substation.
The developers hope it will be operational in 2025.
Gresham House will be hosting public consultation events in the next two months so local residents can learn more about the project, view plans and speak to team members.
These meetings will take place at the Solway Lodge Hotel on November 7 and December 5 from 2 pm to 7 pm.
