Community councillor Joyce Wylie is organising the event, on behalf of the group.
And it will take place at Watchhall Field in Watchhall Road on the night of June 2, starting at 9.45 pm to coincide with the national programme.
There is a long and unbroken tradition in the UK of celebrating Royal jubilees, weddings and coronations with the lighting of beacons – on top of mountains, church and cathedral towers, castle battlements, on town and village greens, country estates, parks and farms, along beaches and on cliff tops.
And in 2022 Platinum Jubilee Beacons will be lit in capital cities of all the Commonwealth countries for the first time.
