EASTRIGGS’ Devil’s Porridge Museum was the place to ‘bee’ at the weekend.
It hosted a bee festival, helping to raise awareness of the species.
Attendees were able to learn about the captivating realm of bees and discover their role in sustaining the planet, alongside participating in a number of events.
Beeswax candle-making, honey tasting, competitions and prizes including honey and beeswax products, free wildflower seeds, observing a virtual hive, and even live bees in a special observation hive were just some of the activities.
Alongside this, visitors had a chance to write letters and place objects into the Devil’s Porridge time capsule, which was then buried underground until 2050, when the UK wishes to reach zero emissions.
Curator Rebecca Short said: “Our Bee Celebration was a fantastic event supporting our Climate Change project.
“There were lots of fun and informative activities, from honey taste testing, trying on beekeeper suits, beautiful wax art demonstrations, candle making and more.
“A huge thank you to everyone who helped out with this event and all those who came along.
“Our Climate Change project will conclude with an exhibition at the end of this year, showcasing all the work that has been achieved with the help of our local community, we hope to see you there.”
