Beer cheer for brewers

PLANNING permission has been granted for a brewery in Lockerbie.

Company Galldachd na h-Alba will now convert the former Wilson and Gilston painters and decorators site on Well Street into a brewery.

The go-ahead has been given for a change of use from workshop to micro brewery and gin distillery including the installation of flue.

The next stage of the process is the building works, which managing director Michael Tough says will commence shortly.

Mr Tough said: “After a little wait, it is pleasing to get moving in the right direction with this project in Lockerbie. We hope that Lowland Brewing will be beneficial to the people of Annandale and to the local economy.”

He added: “We intend to run a free beer tasting and tapas evening in Lockerbie in March and will announce the venue in due course

“We are thankful to everyone for their support and encouragement.”

Meanwhile the company plan to sell off 240 shares, worth £500 each, equivalent to £120,000 and 40 per cent of the company.
