Belles in Barcelona
TEAM SNAP . . . Heston Rovers Belles U16 Girls were competing in the Barcelona Girls Cup

HESTON Rovers Belles U16 Girls recently had the honour of being Scottish representatives at the Barcelona Girls Cup football tournament in Spain.

There was lots of laughter, fun, football, dancing and new friendships made by the girls in Catalonia.

A total of 98 teams from 11 different countries were involved across the weekend.

And the Belles faced sides from Austria, Spain, Switzerland and England during their run in the tournament.

Every game was ultra competitive, each being won or lost by a single goal margin.

Late goals became the norm, and the team from Dumfries missed out on a place in the finals after losing two games to last minute winners.

Although, Heston themselves did have the excitement of a last minute winner over the Swiss side FC Unterstrauss.

The Scottish girls embraced the whole bonding very well with opposing teams and taught them traditional Scottish dances such as ‘Strip the Willow’ the ‘Gay Gordons’ and the Highland Fling.

The trip relied on the help of so many local organisations and businesses for which the team are incredibly grateful for.

The support provided 18 girls with the most amazing opportunity which they wholeheartedly embraced.
