DUMFRIES will be bathed in light and colour as a new stunning light show comes to town.
The free Northern Lights trail is part of this year’s Big Burns Supper that features five incredible installations as part of a town-wide trail.
These installations, using light, sound, and projection, will showcase hidden places in Dumfries like never before.
Visitors can start wherever they wish and explore in any order, sites include Burns Mausoleum, Greyfriars Church and Dumfries High Street.
One highlight of the trial is the projections on to the Midsteeple Quarter’s ‘The Standard’ building that features images taken by people across the region with a soundtrack performed by Dumfries Community Choir.
Big Burns Supper executive producer and founder Graham Main said: “It’s going to be spectacular. The last year has seen a major up-tick in the solar activity that brings about the aurora borealis and we have collected superb images from all over. It will be a real talking point.”
The sound and light show has been funded by EventScotland, part of VisitScotland, who believe the trail is a fitting addition to the winter fringe festival, Rebecca Edser, Head of EventScotland, added:
“The inclusion of the brand-new Northern Lights, supported through our National Events Programme, will provide further opportunities for visitors and locals to immerse themselves in the life and work of Scotland’s national bard through this immersive light show.”
The Northern Lights trail will be welcoming visitors from tonight until Sunday with the installation open from 5 pm to 11 pm each night.
