A 61-YEAR-OLD man was killed following a collision with an HGV near Moffat last night.
Emergency services were called to the scene of the crash on the B7076, near the junction with Newton Wamphray, at about 4.25 pm on Wednesday.
It involved a white Volvo lorry and a silver Honda VFR motorbike.
The rider of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the lorry did not require medical treatment.
The road reopened around 11.30pm.
Appealing for information, Sergeant Lloyd Caven said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who has died.
“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
“We also ask anyone driving in the area at the time with dashcam footage to come forward.”
