Bob served notice by Ecclefechan care home

AN EVICTION notice has been slapped on an 87-year-old man and his dog.

Robert Harvey and his faithful companion Darkie the Miniature Schnauzer have been formally asked to leave Burnfoot Care Home, Ecclefechan, on or before April 19.

The notice comes after a change in policy allowing residents to keep pets and has sparked nationwide backlash for the care home owners, Mead Medica, whose headquarters are in Annan.

A petition with over 250,000 signatures was circulated in support of Bob and Darkie and two protests were held recently in Edinburgh and Westminister supporting the pair.

However, despite all the attempts to keep Bob and Darkie in their Ecclefechan home they have now been asked to leave by the April date.

A Mead Medica employee this week said they were unable to make any comment on the situation.
