EXTRA police patrols have been sent to the region to enforce travel restrictions into England.

Police Scotland’s Chief Constable Iain Livingstone this week authorised ‘a doubling’ of the operational presence on the roads in the border country in a bid to deter travellers.

However, a spokesman for the force declined to reveal the number of extra officers sent to this region and said: “For operational reasons we never discuss specific police numbers.”
