Brass ensemble wins brand-new music award

BRASS enthusiasts across Scotland will be overjoyed after the Stranraer Ensemble won the first ever Scottish young musicians brass ensemble of the year award.

The ensemble of the year and solo performer of the year awards are set to be the next big development for music in Scotland, and seek the very best young musicians in the country to compete against each other.

Stranraer won out in the end with the most votes from an online competition which ran throughout Scotland, and they will be rewarded for their skill and passion with £750, a trip to play at the solo performer awards, and a custom-made sculpture.

Angela Miller, the Conductor of Stranraer said: “I am so proud of these talented young musicians and am so happy to see their hard work being rewarded. They are a credit to themselves, their families and Stranraer Brass. The future looks very bright for them indeed.”
