A meeting to update people on the situation, after the Cuthbertson and Jubilee bridges were washed away in October, was due to be held on Wednesday evening but was cancelled due to the national rise in covid figures.
However, chairman of the working group Stuart Thompson hopes a meeting can be held in January to share the progress being made by elected councillors, Dumfries and Galloway Council and the Scottish Government.
Mr Thompson yesterday said: “Following the announcement from the First Minister this week, we felt it was not a good idea to go ahead with the meeting this week.
“But there has been a lot of work going on, and we will be keeping everyone posted in the new year.
“We will have a comprehensive update, make no bones about it.
“Dumfries and Galloway Council and the local councillors have been working very hard to secure funding for the bridges, to recover what’s left of them.”
