Bug threat closes hospital ward

A SUSPECTED outbreak of the winter vomiting bug has closed a ward at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary.

The decision was made on Tuesday afternoon to close Ward 16 at the Dumfries hospital to admissions, transfers and routine visiting as a precautionary measure due to a suspected outbreak of diarrhoea and vomiting.
Six patients have been affected with symptoms clinically consistent with Norovirus.
An outbreak control team was set to review the situation on Wednesday, and in the meantime would like to thank the public for their support with control measures.
NHS Dumfries and Galloway say they will provide updates in due course.
