Bus pass change reminder

THOUSANDS of people could be left walking if they do not ditch their old bus passes and get one of the new, updated cards.

That was the reminder this week from Councillor Tom McAughtrie, chair of the Swestrans transport group. He said: “The council has been contacting people to make sure that they replace their card, but there are still 1500 people who have used their bus pass in the past year that haven’t replaced their card yet.”
The new cards look very similar to the old ones. However, the one major, noticeable change is with the logo in the bottom left corner. The new cards have ‘mygovscot’ or Saltire Card printed there, so if your card still says One Scotland, you need to update it.
Cllr McAughtrie added: “In a region as rural as ours, people depend on the local bus to get around. We want to make sure that everyone who uses the bus has a new travel card so that they can use the bus in the New Year.
“It’s not too late – get in touch with the council today and you can still have your card in time for Christmas.”
