THERE was traffic chaos in Lochmaben town centre this week after an emergency road closure was put in place on Monday. Council officials closed the U745A Castle Street, from the junction of the A709 to the junction of Princes Street to allow for electrical fault repairs. Explaining more, Annandale North Cllr Gail Macgregor said: “These were not planned works and were imposed under an emergency closure notice due to SPEN needing to excavate and do emergency repairs to a low voltage fault. “Vulnerable customers may be impacted by these works, hence why they have been raised under the emergency notice type. “I appreciate it is frustrating. There is no current end date for the works but you can get updates on the Road Works Scotland website.”
