The 46-year-old has sported a beard for 24 years, since 1994, but next month he’ll be sporting a new clean shaven do.
And he’s doing it to raise money for a charity very close to his heart, the British Lung Foundation.
Keith’s dad, David, suffered from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which was linked to his death last year.
And the fork lift driver couldn’t think of a better fundraising idea than a charity beard shave in his much loved dad’s memory.
He said: “August is the first anniversary of my dads’s death and the only thing I can think of to do in his memory is to cut my beard off.
“I’m very well known for my beard. I’m always getting people coming up to me at concerts or in the pub to take pictures as they love it.
“The beard is special to me, it’s what I’m known for, but the time has come to have it off.
“Over the years so many have said to me ‘do it for charity’ and promised to come along and support me, so now is the time.”
Keith will brave the shave on August 18 at the Crown Hotel, Lockerbie.
Meanwhile, the Crown will also host a special beard themed pub quiz on the night, to help raise further funds for the charity.
