Dumfriesshire MP David Mundell, pictured below, lost his post as Scottish Secretary, only for it to go to neighbouring MP for Dumfries and Galloway, Alister Jack, above.
Mr Mundell yesterday said he was disappointed, but not surprised, to be leaving the Scotland Office after nine years, during which time he has served under both David Cameron and Theresa May.
And Mr Jack described his promotion as an honour and said: “I’ve no illusions about the challenges ahead but I aim to bring a clear Scottish perspective to Cabinet and elsewhere as we strive to deliver the genuine opportunities a well-managed Brexit can offer.”
