Canary show open to all

Dozens of fanciers, as Canary breeders are known, from all over the North of England and Southern Scotland will come together at the event to exhibit their birds.

There will be around 500 birds benched and ready to be judged – in colours of yellow, green, blue and white, cinnamon and fawn.

From the diminutive Fife Canary that stands at a little over four and a quarter inches long to the much bigger Border Canary at five and three quarter inches, the hall will be full of these wonderful birds.

The hobby of bird keeping is a popular pastime with many thousands of people across the country.

Like many hobbies, that of canary breeding is always on the look out for new blood. Those in attendance will be happy to chat and share their knowledge.

There will also be refreshments and a raffle.

The club have APHA approval license to run the show and birds can be entered to the show on Saturday December 7 from 5-8 pm and on the Sunday from 7.30-8.45 am.

The show will be open to the general public between 1.30-3.30 pm.
