Candidates declare for council vote

VOTERS will go to the polls next month to select the next batch of councillors for the region.

Local government elections will be held on Thursday May 5 and will result in 43 new councillors for Dumfries and Galloway, serving 12 wards.

There are 74 candidates standing for election and they are:
