Car and lorry in A75 collision

THE A75 road was closed for around four hours on Sunday after a two-vehicle accident near Eastriggs.

A car and articulated lorry were in collision just east of the Eastriggs to Chapelcross road crossroads on the busy trunk route.

Police Scotland confirmed later that the occupants of the vehicles were treated at the scene and a woman was taken 20 miles to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary for a check-up.

She was not thought to be seriously injured.

Three Scottish Fire and Rescue Service units from Gretna, Annan and Dumfries were called to the scene.

The road remained closed until mid-afternoon to allow a diesel spillage to be dealt with and for the damaged vehicles to be recovered.

Anyone who witnessed the accident is asked to contact Police Scotland on the non-emergency 101 telephone number.
