Caravan theft

A CARAVAN worth £22,000 has been stolen from the grounds of Langholm Rugby Club.

And several others were tampered with, and one more was raided – although nothing was stolen. Between 11 am on Tuesday and 9.30 am on Wednesday, the Bailey Unicorn IV Cartagena Dual Axle Caravan was parked at the club, in an area used for storing caravans, when it was snatched.

Others parked in the same area were targeted.

A spokesman for Police Scotland, sergeant Scott McDowall, said: “The caravan was secured by a hitch lock, which would have been difficult to remove. Other caravans were tampered with in a similar way, however not stolen.

“One other caravan was entered and cupboards, etc searched through however nothing stolen. Enquiries commenced and are ongoing, but information is sought from anyone who saw anything unusual.”
