Carers project gets £2000 grant

A PROJECT providing vital support to young carers has been given a grant.

The Young Carers Project in Dumfries has received £2000 from the STV Children’s Appeal, boosting support for the service.
Sara Jackson, manager at Young Carers Project, said: “The project is delighted to have received the grant of £2000 from the STV Children’s Appeal and we plan to spend this money on activities and outings for young carers across the region.
“This will offer time out and respite from their caring roles and the opportunity to try new activities and spend time with peers in a similar situation.”
The community project provides support to children and young people, aged between 7-18 years old, who have a caring responsibility for a parent or sibling.
It offers one-to-one support, monthly groups and a variety of training opportunities to meet the individual needs of the young carers.
