AN 18-year-old man has died following a serious crash on the A75 near Carsluith.
Police were alerted to the crash involving an 18-year-old male pedestrian and a white Ford Transit van around 10.15 pm on Friday April 18.
The man was taken to hospital and later transferred to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow where he died on Saturday.
The driver of the van, a 28-year-old man, and passenger, a 33-year-old man, were not injured.
The driver was arrested in connection and has been released pending further enquiries.
Sergeant David Kerr said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man who has died.
“Our enquiries into the circumstances of this crash are ongoing and I would urge anyone in the area at the time, before and after the incident, to get in touch with us.
“I am also asking anyone who was in the area at the time and who has dash-cam footage that could assist to get in touch.”
