CAERLAVEROCK Castle was recently illuminated in the UCI’s rainbow colours to mark six months until the biggest cycling event in the world comes to Dumfries and Galloway.
Organisers of the 2023 UCI Cycling World Championships marked the countdown milestone by lighting up 13 iconic landmarks across Scotland where the UCI World Championship events are set to take place from August 3-13.
Caerlaverock Castle was illuminated in recognition of Dumfries and Galloway hosting the Para-cycling Road Race.
Regions across the country will see thousands of amateur and elite cycling athletes from over 120 countries competing across the 13 UCI World Championships for the first time at the mega-event, making it the largest event in cycling history.
Councillor Archie Dryburgh said: “It is a privilege for the council to support the World Paracycling Championships in Dumfries and Galloway this August. We are delighted to be part of this national and global celebration of cycling, and are confident that the athletes and visitors will love their time in South West Scotland.”
