Castle Loch Fundraiser taken to new heights

LOCHMABEN man Colin Stevenson has talked the talk and walked the loch to fundraise for the Castle Loch Community Trust.

Colin, who works as a yard supervisor at Russell Roof Tiles in Lochmaben, frequently walked Castle Loch during his rehabilitation, following some serious health issues.

He enjoyed the area so much that he decided to raise money for the Castle Loch Community Trust by walking up Criffel.

Colin’s efforts raised £1450, which was topped up by Russell Roof Tiles who added a further £1000 as part of their ‘Give-4-Good’ 2022 charity initiative, bringing the total donation to £2450, which he has now handed over.

The donation brings the trust’s fundraising effort to just over £92,000, only £16,000 off the September total target.

The money will be used to replace the boardwalk and keep the three-mile walking loop of the loch open.

At the end of last year the people counter was showing over 35,000 pairs of boots were doing the full loop of the loch each year, with many more doing shorter sections – so the trust is keen to do everything it can to keep the route open.
