Challenges for Claire

THE family and friends of a much loved Annan woman have set themselves the task of completing a year of challenges in her memory.

Claire Collett was just 45 when she lost her fight against cancer in November 2022, having been diagnosed a year earlier.

During February, members of the group are each completing 100 skips a day, raising funds for FACE (Fighting Against Cancer Edinburgh), an organisation which provides the ‘little things’ that can make a real difference to patients undergoing treatment for cancer.

FACE is run by a group of dedicated volunteers whose lives have in some way been affected by cancer. Claire benefitted from their support in the form of facials, massages and comforting words, making her stay at Edinburgh’s Western General Hospital more bearable.

A further challenge planned to raise funds for FACE is the Glasgow Kilt Walk on April 30. Anyone who wishes to contribute in Claire’s memory can do so at Crowdfunding to Clarty’s Challengers on JustGiving.

In addition to raising funds for FACE, the group is also planning to take part in the Carlisle Race for Life 5k on July 30 in aid of Cancer Research; cycle 26 miles on September 30 from Annan to Dumfries and swim 3k in relay on November 5, both supporting the Alexander Unit Endowment Fund.

The group also hope to organise additional events during the course of 2023 in celebration of Claire’s life.
