VISITORS to a workshop at Moniaive will have the chance to try on fantasy costumes at Spring Fling open studios weekend.
Alex Rigg will open his collection of 200 astounding and evocative costumes worn by international dancers, performers and circus artists to the public to explore and try on.
Visitors will be helped to capture their moments on camera and there is also an abundance of accessories from shamanistic staff to trombones and a vivid pink loudhailer.
Alongside this, visitors will be able to see drawings and the ideas/ stories behind each design which range from historical and cultural icons to architectural and natural forms.
Alex said: “Everything we create is individually designed, whether it is for our own productions or for other performers so that it will help bring their concepts to life. All are handmade and unique.”
For the last three decades, he has worked to create these quirky costumes used in all sorts of performances from street carnivals to theatre productions; all inspired by the natural world and environmental issues while others based off a fantasy or sci-fi feel.
Alex added: “I’m also looking forward to talking to people about the costumes and my work.”
