ANNAN athlete Marie Marshall is currently representing the UK at the HYROX World Championships in Chicago.
The event sees the fastest racers from around the world come together to battle it out for the title of ‘Age Group World Champion’.
A HYROX race consists of a 1km run, followed by a functional workout station, repeated eight times.
Races are held indoors, while the format remains the same across the globe.
Marie achieved world-class qualifying standards through countless hours of training, while juggling work, family, and everyday life.
Before heading off on Wednesday, she said: “I’m overwhelmed by the kind messages, gestures, and words of encouragement I’ve received. It’s a privilege to represent not just my country, but the people and businesses that have helped make this dream a reality.
“I can’t wait to stand alongside the world’s top Hyrox athletes and give it everything I’ve got.
“Train hard, stay focused – hard work truly does pay off.
“The journey has been intense, but also incredibly rewarding, made even more meaningful by the support I’ve received from our amazing local businesses.”
