Christmas cheer

AN author’s tale of generosity and kindness has raised over £2000 to help the homeless.

Angela Proctor’s story, of a little dog who guards a rough sleeper, was shown as an animated festive film, Arthur’s Christmas Tale, at Annan’s Lonsdale Cinema and the Robert Burns Centre Film Theatre in December.

Following the screenings cinema-goers got the chance to donate to Shelter Scotland – and helped raise a total of £2262 for the charity.

Angela recently visited the charity’s headquarters to present the cheque. Thanking everyone who donated, she said: “The message really seems to have resonated with audiences and I’m thrilled that this simple story of kindness has elicited such a response from cinema-goers.

“I’d like to thank everyone who put their hand in their pocket at a time of year which can be a strain on finances. It is enormously appreciated.”
